Cape Verde eSIM guide — Sal, Boa Vista and island trips
Install before your island holiday and save tickets and maps offline before ferry crossings or hiking days.
Cape Verde, also called Cabo Verde, is a separate destination from Portugal for roaming. Prepare your mobile data before your flight to Sal, Boa Vista or another island, and keep travel details offline.
Does EU roaming apply?
Cape Verde is outside the EU roaming area. EU roaming does not apply: Portuguese language and flight connections to Europe do not make it an EU roaming destination. Check any optional travel bundle on your home plan separately.
Local networks & coverage
Local mobile services include Alou and Unitel T+. Their official pages below describe their services, not guaranteed Mango access to each network. Check coverage for the island and accommodation you will visit. Do not assume mobile service on ferry crossings or remote hiking routes; download maps and tickets on Wi-Fi first.
Install before departure
Do this on Wi-Fi at home, before you fly. Wi-Fi is required to download the eSIM. Check that your phone is unlocked and supports eSIM. After checkout, use the QR sent by email. On iPhone: Settings, then Cellular or Mobile Data, then Add eSIM (it may say Set Up Cellular). If you see Other Options, tap that, then Use QR Code. On Android: Settings, then Network and internet, then SIMs, then Add eSIM. The new line can install turned off. On arrival, turn the Mango line on, set mobile data to Mango, and turn Data Roaming on for Mango only. Turn off data roaming and cellular data switching on your home line to avoid unexpected charges. Your usual number stays for calls and texts. Calls and texts on your home line still follow your home operator's tariff.
Which Mango plan fits?
Visit is the single-country option for Cape Verde. For trips across regions, check the Mango Nomad destination list against every stop. Mango provides unlimited data with a fair-use throttle instead of a data cutoff. The current Visit price and daily high-speed allowance are shown above from the same catalogue as the destination page. Check the monthly terms and fair-use line in the shop before paying.
Practical tips
- Save your hotel transfer details for Sal or Boa Vista before boarding.
- Download maps and ferry or flight tickets before moving between islands.
